In the past few years, Anarchist Mountain residents have enjoyed ‘neighbour organized’ community activities with financial support from the South Okanagan Similkameen Neighbourhood Small Grant (SOS NSG) program. A 2023 project, ‘An Artistic Tribute to our Volunteer Fire Fighters’ is featured on the SOS NSG home page. Photos of other local events/projects such as Share Your Passion, creating a community quilt, and a driveway dinner are shown here.

National Earth Day Celebration – Learn About the Land
National Earth Day is on April 22nd, and there is so much to celebrate when you live in such a beautiful place like Anarchist Mountain.
But do you know what’s growing around you and the difference between an invasive weed and a native wildflower?
We have many varieties of native plants in our back yards and across the mountain. However, with the disturbance of soil through building and bringing in other materials, invasives weed species are brought in and can spread.
2024 New Year’s Bonfire
by Rudy Reimer
Happy New Year to all Anarchists!
The first day of January 2024 brought fog and mist to our mountain, but that didn’t stop a number of neighbours from coming to the Jamie Soule Memorial Park for a bonfire gathering.
Anarchist Mountain Community Christmas
The Mountain Community is invited to attend the annual party at the Anarchist Mountain Fire Hall on December 17th at 5pm. This catered event is co-hosted by AMCS and AMFD and will be free to residents.
The event is open to all ages and we will provide soft drinks, tea, coffee and a spectacular charcuterie table from Queen of the South catering. You can bring your own drinks and glasses if preferred. Come out and mingle with your neighbours!
A visit is expected from a special guest arriving from the North Pole to surprise the kids in all of us.
Anarchist Mountain Fall Gathering
With the rain making way for clear skies, the Fall Gathering was a perfect embodiment of the season’s charm. Mountain residents gathered at the Jamie Soule Memorial Park on a Sunday afternoon to carve pumpkins, gather around the fire, roast hotdogs and make s’mores.
There were many long term residents as well as several newcomers that joined us for an afternoon. The park was the perfect place to enjoy an afternoon of autumn fun as the air was crisp and the leaves have changed colour.
AMFD 20th Anniversary
In February 2003, a group of dedicated Anarchists started the Anarchist Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.
On Saturday, October 14th the current AMFD members hosted 68 people, including some original members, retired and current members and spouses, and invited guests from other departments at the 20th Anniversary Celebration.
Neighbourhood Small Grant
Earlier this year we received a Neighbourhood Small Grant to host a block party for the Peregrine, Mule Deer, Falcon and Eagle Place streets. After a lot of planning, delays due to wildfires and smoke, the event was held on September 10th. It was a beautiful day for the Driveway Dinner and the guests arrived for a long table dinner and a chance for everyone to celebrate with members from the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department.
Outdoor Movie Night
It was a picture perfect evening at Arosa Ranch to watch a movie under the stars. Thank you to all that came out and for Thomas and Maya of Arosa Ranch for hosting the evening event.
Auction 2023 – A Success!
A huge thank you to everyone that made the Anarchist Mountain Silent Auction another year of success!
The 4-day online auction raised close to $10,000, 100% of which stays in the community.
