The Anarchist Mountain Community Society (AMCS), is a not-for-profit community group that was formed in 2008. The Community Society brings together the interests of residents and landowners on Anarchist Mountain to create a sense of community, preserve its natural setting, and promote living in harmony with the native flora and fauna of the mountain. AMCS has been successful in bringing together residents to engage and connect with similar interests and common goals, working towards making the mountain an exceptional place to live.

Anarchist Mountain is located 15 km east of the Town of Osoyoos, BC, Canada; near border crossings to the U.S. state of Washington. It is also located about 1 hour south of Penticton and 2 hours from Kelowna – both of which have airports.

The nearest hospital is located in Oliver, which is approximately 20 minutes north. Penticton and Kelowna also have larger, more specialized hospitals.

Our community includes the Sidley Mountain area, with rural residents overlooked by the nearby Mount Baldy ski area. There are over 300 homes in the community with more being built every year.

The climate on the mountain is generally 5°C cooler than in the valley, so summers are still warm, but not as hot. Winters do get colder than the valley and there can be significant snowfall. Anarchist Mountain summit is 4892 ft. above sea level.

The life experience and diversity of neighbours from all parts of the world is inspiring.  As the community grows and matures, there is an excitement building that the best is yet to come. Through community events, winter and summer outings, and lectures from professional presenters, residents continue to expand their understanding of the wonders of living up here on Anarchist & Sidley Mountains.

As the community grows, so do the number of groups of those with similar interests – whether it be fitness, crafts, the arts, or music. There are ample places to hike, bike, ski, snowshoe, and enjoy breathtaking scenery. In the summer we have hosted markets, BBQ’s, and the annual Silent Auction which raises funds to support the Anarchist Mountain Fire Rescue Society (AMFRS).

The AMCS is busting with pride for our community and we are always happy to help introduce you to the area or help find a needed service up here on “the Mountain”. If you need more information, send us an email.

All of our Directors and committee volunteers donate their time for the betterment of our community.  Our thanks go out to each of them for their commitment to make this “The Best Place on Earth!” to live.
