AMFD 20th Anniversary

In February 2003, a group of dedicated Anarchists started the Anarchist Mountain Volunteer Fire Department.

On Saturday, October 14th the current AMFD members hosted 68 people, including some original members, retired and current members and spouses, and invited guests from other departments at the 20th Anniversary Celebration.

It was an incredibly special evening with many milestones being marked. The original Chief, Joe Simoes took us back to the beginning and told the story of how the department began and how the hall was put together.

Chief Urs Grob acknowledged all the current members and support staff including the Emergency Notification executive team. We also had three Firefighters graduate to First Responder (EMA) and three recruits graduate to Firefighter 1.  The future of the department is in good hands.

A highlight of the evening was the unveiling of the amazing mural painted on the sea can which was done to thank the AMFD for 20 dedicated years of service.

Special thanks to Queen of the South Charcuterie for catering, Julie Delisle for the wonderful cake and to all the members that helped make the event so special.

The community is grateful for 20 years of keeping us safe and being there to help others when the call comes. After a busy summer of numerous deployments and incidents the celebration was well deserved.
