This year the Anarchist Mountain FireSmart Committee will be posting reminders on social media prior to each Wapiti Pit weekend and we’ll pass out the yearly schedule at the pit. The FireSmart Committee is also looking for volunteers to help us manage Wapiti pit – this is a great opportunity to greet and meet fellow Anarchist Mountain residents. Charity Yard Sale
Charity yard sale to raise funds for disaster relief around the world.
Friday-Saturday April 19-20 and Friday-Saturday April 26-27 from 8am at 5691 Dogwood Lane, Oliver.
Funds will be collected for Canadian Lutheran World Relief’s disaster relief efforts around the world.
Donation of garage sale items are gratefully accepted and can be dropped off in advance at any time or during the yard sale.
Who’s Who in the Wild – The Water Beneath Our Feet

Many communities in British Columbia are currently under water restrictions because of drought.
Even areas known for coastal rain forests are under the highest water use restriction – Stage 4 – meaning that all outdoor water use (watering lawns, washing cars, filling pools, etc.), including watering food crops on farms, is prohibited.
Most of us on the mountain get our water from wells that draw it from hundreds of feet below ground. This doesn’t mean that this source isn’t impacted by drought or overuse, especially in times of drought.

Mobile Homes as Accessory Dwellings
Public Hearing: Thursday August 17, 2023
At its meeting of March 2, 2023, the Planning and Development (P&D) Committee of the Board considered options related to Alternative Housing Strategies, one of which included reviewing the current zoning regulation that limits “mobile homes” to parcels greater than 4.0 hectares in area.
In response, it is being proposed to amend the Okanagan Valley Zoning Bylaw No. 2800, 2022 by allowing an “accessory dwelling” use to be in the form of a “mobile home” (i.e. CSA Z240) on parcels greater than 1.0 hectare in area.

Who’s Who in the Wild – The Anarchist “Snowbirds”

As fall approaches, Canadians who don’t enjoy the winter months aren’t the only ones starting to think about a trip south. You may have noticed mixed flocks of different species of songbirds frequenting your yard or the natural areas surrounding your property. Now that most songbirds have fledged their young and given up their summer nesting territories, it’s common for them to associate with other species as they seek out food in preparation for fall migration and help their young learn to fend for themselves.
Spiky plants ‘big risk’ to pets
The Okanagan and Similkameen Invasive Species Society (OASISS) is warning pet owners about two invasive plants with spiked seeds that are back out again throughout the valley.
Cheat Grass
Puncture Vine
Cheatgrass and puncture vine are a “big risk” to pets, especially dogs out on a walk that can find themselves having a seed embedded in their paw or fur.
