Moonlight Snowshoe

Hi Everyone

We will host a moonlight snowshoe at our place (1400 Kelly Road) on Friday, Feb 7 leaving at 7:30.  Our crunchy snow supports the snowshoes well, but we expect some fresh powder this week.  Friday’s weather looks cloudy for the evening, but sunny periods during the day, so there is a good chance to see the moon.  Last month we had a vigorous trek through the fields and forests.  This walk will be the same format as usual, except calling it “romantic” as it is the week before Valentines Day.

If you have questions, please call 250-446-2420 or 250-498-7579.

Yoga and Pilates Classes

held at the Summit Centre $10 drop-in

You don’t have to travel far to participate in various classes that benefit your health and well being! There are three classes weekly, held at the Summit Centre building (Peregrine and Highway 3).

Yoga Tuesdays 9:30 to 10:30

We begin with relaxation, breath-connection and warm-up, building to a gentle flow involving popular yoga postures with an emphasis on core-strength and balance. Class concludes with stretches and mindful relaxation. Leave feeling calm, yet energized. Please bring a yoga mat.

Gentle Yoga Tuesdays 10:50 to 11:50

This class suits all levels, including beginners, people returning to Yoga after an absence, or people with chronic conditions or mobility challenges. Gentle Yoga will help you learn to calm your nervous system, breathe mindfully, and connect your mind/ body so you can move safely and with ease, and improve your strength, balance and flexibility. You’ll leave each class feeling stronger, calmer and healthier. Please bring a yoga mat.

Pilates Thursdays 9:30 to 10:30

Pilates exercises focus on improving core-strength, balance and stability, and learning to move in space from the foundation of a strong core. Fun and challenging, but straightforward enough for anyone to learn. Please bring a yoga mat.

Please call or email if you have any questions.

Karma Yoga Thank You

Thanks so very much to everyone who turned up for our Karma Yoga class on Tuesday December 3, and to those who donated despite not being able to attend, and those who came to the post-class social, and donated then, enjoying the feeling of connection, giving and community.
Once again I’m amazed by this group’s caring and generous nature. We raised more than $350, which will be shared with the Osoyoos Food Bank and SOWINS (South Okanagan Women in Need Society). There are so many people both in our own circles and in groups we may not know personally, who need help, not only at this time of year, but always. If we ourselves are strong, healthy, and we’re able to help (by giving time or money), then we must do so.
Thanks once again, and take good care of yourselves and others.

Karma Yoga Session

Everyone is invited!

Karma Yoga Session Tuesday December 3

Summit Centre, 9:30 am

On Tuesday, December 3, we are hosting a Karma Yoga class at the summit centre. The class is by donation, and all proceeds will be shared with the local Food Bank, as well as South Okanagan Women in Need Society. Cash donations only please, as the Food Bank can stretch the dollar 3-fold.

Everyone is welcome to attend, whether or not you’re a regular or have never done yoga before. If you’re new at it, be prepared to have a few chuckles, meet some new neighbours, and go with the flow. The class style is gentle flow, and do-what-you-can. Modifications for easier versions of poses will be provided.

After class, please stay for a little social time and coffee, tea, cookies and treats. Feel free to bring a treat to share, if you wish.

If you can’t make the class, but would still like to donate and attend the post-class social, feel free to arrive at 10:30(The weekly Gentle Yoga class will be moved to Thursday morning for this week only).

Hope to see you there.
