Jamie Soule Memorial

This page is dedicated to Jamie Soule who passed away unexpectedly on January 1 2019.

Jamie was always helping friends and neighbours in the community. He was a generous man who regularly plowed snow for several neighbours, helped build a handicap ramp for disabled people in need, was a regular volunteer and builder assisting the Rock Creek Fairgrounds build new grandstands and various projects. He volunteered his time to operate an excavator for the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department (AMFD) Fire Smart program to manage brush debris for supervised burning. Jamie also helped other Fire Department members build a pump house control shed at Sasquatch Pond, to allow rehabilitation of the pond in the park to maintain a reservoir that could be used by the community to help combat a wild land wild fire. Jamie spent countless hours upgrading a variety of projects at our local Fire Hall and was always there to help.

His role as the Deputy Fire Chief meant he was one of the senior officer’s at the AMFD and acted as incident commander at many of our calls. His experience with self contained breathing apparatus (SCBA), vehicle extrication, wild land fire fighting, as well as vehicle and structural fire fighting was evident at each incident he attended. Firefighters were well served and were kept safe under his guidance. His life experience, his managerial skills, and his ability to mentor new recruits along with seasoned AMFD members made his presence a positive force within the AMFD.

In appreciation of his tireless efforts to make our area a better place to live, the AMFD along with the Anarchist Mountain Community Society (AMCS) have endorsed the renaming of the RDOS Sasquatch Pond park (currently un-named) to the Jamie Soule Memorial Park. The Regional District of Okanagan Similkameen (RDOS) has approved the request.

We would like to erect a sign “Jamie Soule Memorial Park” at the entrance of the park and place a bench within the park with a dedication to Jamie Soule. Our goal is to raise $1500.00 to purchase materials. If the donations exceed our goals, we will use the extra funds for additional materials for the park and for a BBQ at the dedication ceremony.

We would like to have the park opened by the end of the summer and will be closing the donations page at that time.  If you would like to contribute to the development of the Jamie Soule Memorial Park, please click on the “Donate” button, and it will redirect you to Paypal where you can donate with your Paypal account or by credit card. If you would prefer to use EFT please send all donations to treasurer@amcsbc.ca marked for the Jamie Soule Memorial Park or please mail a cheque to:
