JEFFERY STRAKER singer-songwriter-pianist folk/roots/pop
Award-winning singer-songwriter-pianist Jeffery Straker has become known for his rootsy storytelling & folk-pop hooks, with critics comparing him to the likes of Harry Chapin, Kris Kristofferson, Elton John & Jackson Browne. The Calgary Herald has written: “Gifted in his ability to write intricate story songs buoyed by melodies that fit a listener’s ears like a beloved broken-in glove”.

Straker released his latest album “Dirt Road Confessional” in May 2017, debuting at #5 on the iTunes Canada singer-songwriter charts, and he toured over 100 shows across Canada, Europe and Latin America in the year following the release. Over the past few years he’s licensed songs for film, TV and theatrical use and has performed in clubs, theatres, house-concerts and festivals. In addition to recording for CBC’s “Canada Live” he’s had a music video chart in the top 10 in Canada and has left critics saying: “Rufus Wainwright, and k.d. lang are among the Canadians making essential and beautiful music – add Jeffery Straker to that list”.

Straker made his National Arts Centre (Ottawa) debut in 2018 and that same year performed a full concert of his music with the Saskatoon Symphony Orchestra. He received a Western Canadian Music Award in 2019 and spring 2020 will see him release his next full-length recording supported with Canadian and European touring.

Jeffery was born in rural Saskatchewan, and was raised by a church organist mother & an auctioneer father. He swears he was born under the piano on the family farm.
