About AMCS

Building community involvement in the preservation and enjoyment of Anarchist Mountain’s natural and cultural environment

The Anarchist Mountain Community Society (AMCS), is a not-for-profit community group formed in 2007. The Community Society brings together the interests of residents and landowners on Anarchist Mountain to create a sense of community, preserve its natural setting and promote living in harmony with the native flora and fauna of the Mountain. The Community Society has been successful in being a forum for community discussion, working towards making the Mountain an exceptional place to live.

Anarchist Mountain has undergone change in the past 10 years, now with over 100 homes now dotting the community. People from all corners of the globe now own property here. The life experience and diversity that these neighbours bring the community is inspiring.  As the community grows and matures, there is an excitement building that the best is yet to come. Through community events, winter and summer outings, and lectures from professional presenters, residents continue to expand their understanding of the wonders of living up here on Anarchist & Sidley Mountains.

We have a vibrant local community scene with people getting together regularly for knitting clubs, to play music, take Pilates & Yoga classes, or work on our FireSmart Program, and to organize and attend concerts in our local community hall – The Summit Centre where professional entertainers perform creating wonderful community parties to share with friends. In the summer we host a Market on the Mountain event, and a major picnic / BBQ and Silent Auction in July where the community raises funds in support of the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department. Everyone is welcomed to attend and participate in any of our events whether you are a member or not.

The AMCS is busting with pride for our community – and we are always happy to help introduce you to the area, or help find a needed service up here on “the hill”. If you need more information send us an email.

All of our Directors and committee volunteers donate their time for the betterment of our community.  Our thanks go out to each of them for their commitment to make this The Best Place on Earth! to live.

Hello Elisabeth. At this time, Telus seems to be the best for Internet. We have cellular (not fiber or cable) Internet on Anarchist Mountain, so it will be a little bit different than what most people experience in more populated areas. As far as utilities, can you be more specific on what kind of information you are looking for? Most properties in the area have wells already drilled and electricity is usually provided at a box near the property. This may not apply to all areas of the mountain though.

We have bought a lot on Sasquatch trail and are putting in utilities now with the intent to build in 12 to 24 months. A couple questions for the group. Who is the best internet provider? Do builds commonly have a backup generator? Appreciate any info. Thanks.
