AMCS Birding for Beginners Workshop

Can’t tell a robin from a sparrow? Interested in knowing your neighbourhood birds? Join Valerie Maida of the Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship for a Birding for Beginners Workshop hosted by AMCS!

The Workshop will be held at 10:00 am on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Arosa Ranch, 6760 Hwy 3, Bridesville.

This workshop will start with an indoor presentation to provide a backgrounder on bird anatomy, how to get started with identifying birds including a summary of field guides and smartphone apps as well as how to attract birds to your property with nest boxes and bird-friendly gardening. Weather permitting, we will head outside for a birding walk to put your new skills to use.

We will split our time between inside and outside so please dress for any weather. If you have your own bird book or binoculars, please bring them as we will have limited extras. Please note that the walk will likely have uneven trail sections. Absolutely no dogs are permitted during the bird walk.

This is a free event, but a donation at the door is much appreciated to help Okanagan Similkameen Stewardship continue running programs like this one!
