FIRESMART CLEANUP DAY AT JAMIE SOULE MEMORIAL PARK

After delays due to covid restrictions in May and hot, dry conditions in July, it’s finally the time for the annual FireSmart community cleanup.

Our 2021 FireSmart cleanup event is a joint project with the Jamie Soule Memorial Park committee to clear a trail that will lead visitors through the park. The goal is to “lightly” FireSmart the trees and vegetation adjacent to the pathway while keeping the park as natural as possible. There will be a brief introduction describing potential opportunities for our use of the park. We’re encouraging all residents, young and old, to brainstorm ideas for future community activities.

All volunteer hours count towards maintaining the Anarchist Mountain FireSmart Community Recognition. The FireSmarting will end by noon after which there will be a communal meal – details to follow.

What to bring:

  • The whole family! There will be fun, supervised activities for children.
  • FireSmarting tools you are most proficient with such as rakes, shovels, limb loppers, pruning saws, shrub trimmers, dollies and wheelbarrows. Weed whackers will be used if conditions allow. The FireSmart team will provide instructions for the cleanup.
  • Utility trailers for hauling vegetation debris.
  • Lawn chairs.

The entrance to the Jamie Soule Memorial Park is located opposite the mailboxes on Sasquatch Trail. Turn right and park in the lot to the left of the driveway. The event introduction will take place at the end of the drive nea rthe Jamie Soule wooden sign.
