There is progress being made on fighting this fire, but it is NOT out! Forestry is still supporting us with wildfire crews, but some crews have been redeployed to other nearby areas that have a greater need for resources.

AMFD crew spent the night putting out spot fires. Mop up and patrols continue.

EVACUATION ORDERS ARE STILL IN PLACE

Please….do not return to areas that are clearly barricaded and signed as NO ENTRY. We are aware of residents returning fairly regularly, posting pictures and saying everything is fine. This is a danger to everyone.

“Winds can easily change a fire status and then it requires fire crews to evacuate people that should not be here. There is no need for you to be here until the order has been lifted”, says Chief Grob. He added, “please wait for notification of orders being rescinded by RDOS before you return”.

Security continues to patrol all areas.

The crews are still working hard as the smoke has been clearing and we are all beyond thankful for how our AMFD has been there to support our community.

As per Wildfire BC update today, there was continuing structure protection. Patrols and mop up continue on the fire’s southern perimeter. Crews are constructing and reinforcing hand guard to tie into machine guards on the fires south edge and eastward. There was a small excursion over the fire guard near Bullmoose Rd (Lamont) which crews are working to contain. No Evacuation Orders have been lifted as of yet, except the 8 properties listed in the last RDOS update.
