Welcome to the annual Anarchist Mountain Community Wildfire Awareness Day on Saturday, May 4.
We are looking forward to seeing you on Saturday morning, May 4, for the Community Wildfire Awareness Day (FireSmart). The Summit Center will be open at 9:30 am for you to browse materials and tools available to rent, all meant to help you work and protect your buildings and property.
Presentations will start promptly at 10:00 am, to be repeated every half hour. Bright coloured signs will be posted on the outside walls of the Summit Center to help you know where to gather. Please note that we have invited each speaker for their experience and expertise. They are not involved in policy formulation.
Please sign in at the FireSmart table when you arrive. There are good reasons to do so:
- Your participation is measured and helps us as a community tor certify next year for FireSmart accreditation.
- You can come back to the FireSmart table and modify your sign in to ask for further follow-up such as a property inspection or any other information we can help you with.
As you have seen from the AMCS website and other media sites, there is a lot more attention to FireSmart this year due to a couple of difficult fire seasons recently as well as the dryness we are experiencing this spring. Our Fire Depart has already been required to attend to two calls this spring where a landowner was burning off debris on their property, only to lose control of the fire and require intervention. No expert this spring is willing to make a prediction on wildfires his year, but one thing is clear: homeowners can help themselves when a wildfire presents itself.
2019 Fire Season
Come out on Saturday to see how you can help yourself to better protect your property and buildings. And remember, FiireSmart activities are those that must be done, not just one year, but every year following. This is process rather than destination.
(PS Hopefully It won’t snow like when the media crew arrived…..)
