RDOS To Intervene Jointly With AMCS In Fortis Rate Design Application

The Regional District Okanagan-Similkameen (RDOS) Board unanimously agreed on October 5th to intervene jointly with the AMCS in the upcoming Fortis Rate Design Application expected to be filed some time in November.  The Board decision followed a presentation to them by Nick Marty.

As part of the intervention, RDOS is seeking “testimonials” from residents in the RDOS area on the impacts on them of the current two-tier rate system.  These testimonials will be provided to Nick for him to incorporate into the intervention, along with those he will be requesting from Anarchist Mountain Residents once Fortis has filed its application.

The RDOS is bounded by Manning Park to the west, Peachland to the north, Anarchist Mountain to the east and the US border to the south.  The RDOS represents more than 83,000 residents and their intervening jointly with us will increase significantly our ability to influence the final decision of the British Columbia Utilities Commission concerning Fortis’ residential electricity rates.  Moreover, the RDOS agreed that the matter of intervener status would also be referred to the Southern Interior Local Government Association to determine support from other interested local governments.
