Assisting the Rock Creek Fair

Rock Creek Fall Fair Pre-Fair Work Bee

Last year we had over 12 000 attendees for our two day fair.  Each year hundreds of volunteers from age 6 to 90 help to make the Rock Creek Fall Fair a huge success.  An RCFF tradition is to hold a work bee both days the weekend prior to fair weekend.  This year our work bees are Sat, Sept 10 and Sun, Sept 11 from 9-3 each day.  Jobs range from helping to set up booths, tents, tables, benches, fences to raking, carting debris, to general clean-up and to preparing the always excellent lunch for volunteers.

On behalf of the RCFF Board of Directors, I wish to invite everyone to this year’s pre-fair work bee.  We always have a great time, meet old friends and make new ones.  The lunches are great and each volunteer receives a pass to the fair.  If you wish to help out, arrive anytime in the morning (or even for an hour or two in the afternoon), go to the RCFF pavilion office and let them know you’re available.  They will suggest where help is needed and direct you to the person in charge of that area.  Bring gloves, rakes, any hand tools you’re good with and an energetic smile!

If you are unable to help out at the work bees, we have a few functions at the fair still to fill like selling 50-50 tickets.  We also have classes from cattle to needlepoint for those who wish to enter their hobbies (see the exhibitors’ booklet at the website) or just see the wonderful produce of others.  We have high quality live entertainment, a midway, livestock shows and demonstrations, many interesting vendors’ booths, lawnmower races, beer garden, and a great variety of food to purchase.  Your attending our fair will be a huge boost.  We invite everyone to come and see what a resilient community we are, and what a wonderful fair we put on.
