AMFD has a new Fire Chief: Urs Grob

Dear Neighbours;

We have a new Fire Chief.

Urs Grob assumes his duties as Fire Chief on Wed; Aug 12th. Urs and his family moved to the area 6 years ago from Switzerland. He and his entire family have been involved in many community activities ever since. Urs is an electrician, and his wife Annette is active in producing quality farm products. He has been an active member of the Fire Dept nearly since the day he arrived in our area, and he has served as an officer on the Fire Dept. for the past 3 years. He is a level headed decision maker, with strong people skills. Urs has shown a demonstrated commitment to our community whenever something needs to get done. We wish him every success as our local Fire Chief.

On behalf of Mountain residents, the Community Society wishes to thank Rob Burk for his service as our Fire Chief for the past several years. Rob made many positive improvements to the capabilities of the Dept… Some of these include: adding another fire engine; a second tender (water tanker); the Rescue 111 response vehicle, First Responder medical training, Extrication equipment and training, the bush Quad vehicle for forest response, encouraging Air Brake licensing allowing more members to drive the equipment and many other day-to-day improvements. He leaves the Dept. in good shape.

Appointment Letter from RDOS

Good afternoon Gloria (current Acting Fire Chief),

I am pleased to let you know that we have received a formal response from Urs Grob indicating his acceptance for the position of Fire Chief.  Urs will start his new role on Wednesday August 12th.

It was apparent from all the candidates that there are a number of qualified and dedicated individuals volunteering and supporting the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department.

We are very hopeful that the members of the fire department and the community will rally behind the new Chief in order to make the service as strong as possible. As always, the RDOS Board and staff are here to support the fire department in any way that we can.

Please feel free to share this information with the fire department membership as you see fit.  The RDOS will issue a formal press release later this week.

Kinds regards,

Mark Woods, the Emergency Services Supervisor; RDOS
