Our Newest Sponsor: Desert Delivery & Parcel Depot

Please welcome Nixon and Kyle Zaye, Anarchist Mountain residents & owners of

Desert Delivery & Parcel Depot

This new parcel business is opening up in Osoyoos on Monday, August 3. This is a service that will certainly be a benefit to Anarchist, Sidley and Bridesville residents.  This will be very helpful since couriers do not deliver up here and driving to Penticton to retrieve packages is a pain.  People can use the depot address as their personal shipping location. They can then pick up their parcels there or have them delivered directly to their home.

Currently they are licenced to be a receiving depot and are working with all major couriers to also become Osoyoos’ sending station as well. This service also provides several other services (pick-up groceries, etc.).

Check out their offerings at www.desertdelivery.ca or click on their ad to the right of the page.

Wildhorse Fire – July 20th

Right now I am smelling the smoke of a fire close by that was started by the big lightening storm late Sunday night. Last night it was really burning and I took some photos from here.Wildhorse Fire July 20 2015Here are the details of the fire.

July 19th lightening storm caused hundreds of forest fires in the Okanagan Valley in the US and BC.  This fire photo is  Wildhorse Fire, 4 miles SE of Oroville and grew to about 185 acres Sunday night. There are about 50 homes threatened. Firefighters, supported by both fixed wing aircraft and helicopters, were able to construct about 2,000 feet of fireline. The fire was staffed overnight and more crews arrived to assist today. A total of six crews, four of them hotshot crews, are still working on the Wildhorse Fire. Hotshot crews—there are roughly 107 in the U.S.—consist of 20 firefighters who have been specifically trained to respond to fires in remote regions with little or no logistical support.

Once we have tallied up the figures we’ll report to the Community how we did with in financial terms, and what our community donation to the Fire Dept. is going to be.

Watch the Osoyoos Times and the Boundary Times this week for articles reporting on this fun evening. There will also be an advertisement placed in the Osoyoos Times, thanking our many sponsors of the Silent Auction. Please note who these sponsors are and support them with your business.

See you next year.

Note, a number of things were left at the Summit.  If anything is yours, please e-mail anarchistmcs@gmail.com to arrange to pick it up….Patti

2015 BBQ , Picnic & Silent Auction

Our Annual BBQ & Silent Auction is Saturday, July 18. This is a potluck affair so bring a salad, desert, a main – whatever you wish to share with your friends and neighbours.

Admission is a donation of $10 / person (no charge for kids, or dogs!). This covers the cost of the fabulous BBQ’ed beef that we serve up to all our guests. Things start off around 3:30 (viewing of auction items) with dinner served around 5 PM.

The Silent Auction committee has been busy gathering donations for the fundraiser for the Anarchist Mountain Fire Department.  We are overwhelmed with the generosity of merchants from Osoyoos, Oliver, Sidley and Penticton, along with the donations provided by our mountain friends and neighbours.

There is something for everyone at this auction, and over 100 packages…..

Items include……. lots of wine, ladies accessories, home decor, men’s shirts, fragrance baskets, power washer, wet/dry vacuum, sprayer, GPS, cell phone, speakers, gift certificates for everything from spa/hair services, flooring, restaurants, home products/services, golf…..too numerous to mention!  And you’ve got to come and see the beautifully crafted items made by our local artisans and talented folks up here on the mountain!  Payment for auction purchases will be by cash or cheque only at the silent auction.

We look forward to seeing you at the BBQ on Saturday, July 18.

Come and have fun, bring your family and friends, participate in the silent auction, and enjoy socializing with other community residents.

Fire Hazard – Industry

Dear Neighbours,

We don’t have to tell you about how hot and dry it has been. The Kamloops Fire Centre has just sent out another bulletin, this time asking industrial companies to exercise EXTREME caution doing anything that may cause a fire. With over 3,500 hectares of fires burning in the Kamloops Fire Centre’s area – this is good advice.   All residents of Anarchist & Sidley Mtn are urged to be extremely vigilant, and report ANY smoke, fires, or lightning strikes to any member of the Fire Dept., or 1-800-663-5555 or *5555 on cellular networks or dial 911 to report it.
