Residents have likely noticed a fire that was started by lightning on Saturday night, about 1 – 1 1/2 KM north of the nearest Anarchist Mtn residences, on Osoyoos Indian Band lands, on the east side of the valley. Forestry have been in contact with our Fire Dept. and residents have been monitoring Forestry Branch communications in the past two days. This fire is on high ground, and as of 2 PM Monday June 29, Forestry says they have completely encircled the fire with retardant, containing the fire. I have personally watched at least 20 retardant and water drops by aircraft on this fire. The fire is burning slowly in light scrub brush, and at least one fire crew is working on location mopping up the fire.
