Exciting Award for FireSmart & REMINDER: Preparedness Day is Sat. May 2

The FireSmart community program operating on Anarchist Mountain has been recognized with a $500 award in preparation for the first National Wildfire Community Preparedness Day – which is happening on May 2nd across Canada. The competition organizers asked FireSmart communities across Canada for their nominations for community preparedness projects. The Anarchist Mountain group won their award for their plans for a FireSmart education and work party at Sasquatch Pond Park, on Saturday May 2nd.

The event will show residents safe brushing techniques and clean up potentially dangerous forest fuels from the Sasquatch Pond park area“, says Denis Thomson, Chair of the committee. Included in the activities is a social BBQ, where you can relax and meet your neighbours.

The FireSmart program on Anarchist Mountain is sponsored by the Anarchist Mountain Community Society.  FireSmart committee members are Denis Thomson, Chuck Harrison, Walter Zinowki, Darren Hutchinson and Richard Douziech. We all thank these dedicated residents for their commitment to community fire safety.

Hope you can make it,
