A local resident sent in these pictures and this commentary:
” These Chukars have been around here for only about three years. These particular ones may be offspring from last year as I hear others on a hill that may be the parents. They tend to be really shy and are off at the slightest hint of danger”
I also saw a flock of them last year and yes, they are very timid and ran for cover. I had never seen them before and looked them up and it seems they were introduced here as game birds (part of the Partridge family).
