It is with sadness that I inform you that Diane Biernaskie, a long time resident of the mountain, passed away on September 19th. Her daughter, Jennifer Brock, passed on the message to me, and mentioned that Diane had been in hospice in Pentiction for about forty days, finally losing her battle with cancer. The memorial will be in about three weeks.
When Joe Simoes arranged for wildfire training following the 2003 fire, Diane was one of the women who attended the inservice and who was part of the original group of firefighters.
